"wherever there are people, money is there"

Recently, I heard one entrepreneurship enthusiast say something that struck me while he was giving a talk on the need to have an entrepreneurship mindset and skill set. He said "Don't ever feel discouraged to start where ever you find yourself because you feel there is no money where you are but know that wherever there are people, there is money".

I mean, I've never heard anyone say something like this or think of people and money this way. on hearing this statement at first, it seemed basic and just any regular information. Just another motivational speaker doing what they know how to do best. still, I didnt particularly know why it struck me that I kept on pondering on what it could mean for an entrepreneur. After critically thinking and pondering, I realized that he is actually right to say wherever people are, money is there.

Now, come to think of it, its not Ghosts that use money to transact daily but people and no matter how small or big, everyone has some amount of money on them that they are willing to spend on what's most important to them. if it's not in their pockets, it's in the bank and they use this money daily to solve one problem or another which may be basic needs as feeding, clothing, shelter or for secondary needs, comfort, pleasure, luxury etc the key point here is there is money in the hands of everyone.

As a person who is interested in starting up something such as a business or to render a service, the first piece of advice usually given is to know your target market and find a niche or audience as the case may be. And that feeling that a particular place or city where you find yourself is looking dull and therefore you have assumed that money won't be in that kind of place is so discouraging that you may not want to put an effort because, who will patronize you anyway?

But here is the good part, instead of sulking around and feeling all discouraged that what could one possibly start when they seem to be no money in the city, an entrepreneur would be more concerned in providing value, filling a gap, looking for what's in demand by the people and providing it for them, remember I said people are willing to use money to buy what's important to them and what they need right?... so providing that need is it. that's it. Studying the environment extensively to know what your target people need, and are willing to pay money for, then start from there.

it's a good thing that this particular statement stuck and I couldn't stop pondering about it, because now I have a strong believe that no matter where you are and you are willing to try something new as an entrepreneur, having the mindset that a particular place is looking dull and has no money should be ticked off your pessimistic mental list of challenges because where ever you see people eh, money is there. All you should be more focused on is how to get the money out of their pockets into yours.
